Hook: Tiemco 100 or standard dry fly, sizes
14-18
Thread: Uni-thread 8/0, rust brown
Tail: Amber Z-lon topped with wood duck
Abdomen: dyed turkey biots, rust brown
Thorax: cream/amber fur dubbing
Wing: snoeshoe rabbit
Hackle: sandy dun dry fly
Tying Tips
- Use a wrap of thread behind and under the tail to help support/prop it up.
- When wrapping hackle, lift wing and place one wrap of hackle behind the wing. Remainder of hackle is wrapped in front of wing.
Fishing Tips
- Very easy to see
- Change colors of tail, body, abdomen, and hackle to match any mayfly hatch
- This fly floats very well on its own, but you can grease the hackle if desired
- Fish dead drift in the film
